CL: So far just me. I’m talking to some other artists. We’ll see what happens. It’s going to officially launch in February of next year. I want to put out some of my own stuff first and try it and make sure everything is in place before signing somebody and going, “Sorry, I’m not really ready for you.” JIVE: From what I understand, the last week or so, you’ve been closing with one track? CL: Jonathan Allyn. JIVE: There have been some questions about that actually. CL: Yeah, Jonathan Allyn did a neat track that’s really good. He handed it to me when I was playing in Atlanta last Friday. He actually gave it to me before the party so I listened to it on my laptop, and I was like, “This is a good track.” And I never do that, I never play things out that people give me the same night. I always take them home; listen to them in the studio. It was just really good. I kept looking at it and trying to decide where it would fit in my set. I thought the energy on it was really good and I decided, “You know what? This would be a really good closer.” And it worked fantastically; it was the closing track for my set. And so I did that again the next night, and last night, and everyone really seemed to like it. So, we’ll see. That’s the advantage to starting my own label. I can road test tracks and then I know whether it’s worth putting out or not. If it works on the dance floor then it’s probably worth putting on vinyl. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JIVE MAGAZINE -NEW DAY- ALBUM REVIEW Album: New Day Genre: Trance Release Date: available now Posted: 09/20/2004This is Jonathan Allyn’s first commercial release and it is an amazing example of melding emotional experience with music. All the tracks on the album are original productions by Jonathan, with the exception of a brilliantly remixed track originally produced by San Mehat called “Exhale”. Each track comes across with a story to tell, and you get the feeling each note, every beat and every single sample is a memory or place in Jonathan’s own soul.
This is solid trance in its most modern form and Jonathan Allyn’s debut album is getting noticed not only by the press and his loyal fans, but by the masters themselves, such as Christopher Lawrence, who has played Jonathan’s tracks across the globe. If you are a trance lover, you should pick a copy of this CD up. Just be prepared for the surge of emotion it will bring with it.

It did well at the Dance Star Awards in Miami. I am looking forward to hearing your future productions. Kind Regards, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Christopher Lawrence To: ja@jonathanallyn.com Subject: New Day Date: Sat, 26 June 2004 21:15:12 Hi Jonathan, I finally got a chance to sit down and really listen to your album and was very impressed. The album has a strong consistent theme throughout, but my favorite tracks are "An Angels Eye", "Separation" which is very emotional and trancey. Also "Somewhere Else" is another favorite. "I Need You" had the most energy. Most of the tracks had a more reserved, moody feel, while "I Need You" had a bit more momentum to it. It's just something in the rhythm. It also had a quicker synth line that gave it more energy than some of the others. The album is definitely a good addition to my iTunes library. Please make sure to keep me updated on any future productions. Kind Regards, |
